On what was a bitterly cold weekend, the club managed to play off round number seven of the Winter League Series.
70 golfers have entered this year’s Winter League Series and at the half-way point the competition is gathering momentum. Trailblazing out in front is Alan Kirwan on a commanding score of (193pts). Thus far, the league leader has posted seven consistently high “Stableford” scores and holds a comfortable five-point lead over his nearest challenger in Colin Fitzmaurice, who sits patiently in second position with a score of (188pts). A small group of players are in joint third position, these include Leonard Flynn, Ray Murray and Alban Lawless with total scores of (183pts) respectably.
There is still plenty of time for competitors to post some high scores and with weather conditions permitting, we have a further seven weekends to go. Remembering your best 8-weekend stableford scores over the 14 rounds will count towards a player’s final total score. There are “Prizes” for the first five best finishers. (Winter Series handicap cuts to apply for the duration of the league).
