On behalf of all the committee I want to wish you all a very happy New Year and I hope that you have a very enjoyable year’s golf. Our Spring League commences next week and I hope the weather stays kind to us all so that we will be well prepared for the golfing year which commences in early March.
Members are reminded that separate invoices will issue from the committee to all members shortly. It is important that the amount due to the committee, the GUI and the insurance company is paid as soon as possible but not later than February 15th to ensure each member’s affiliation to GUI is paid and that your handicap does not lapse. Due to an oversight in 2009, monies paid by some members for insurance cover was not passed on to the insurance company. This matter will be addressed in the invoices which will issue shortly and credit will be given to members who paid for insurance in 2009. It is important that you indicate by ticking the box when returning your payment so that the committee have a record of who requires insurance, which is optional. The committee urges all members to take out annual cover.
The PLC (Knightsbrook) will issue annual subscription invoices shortly and it is important that this subscription be paid immediately or arrangements for instalment payments put in place through the Director of Golf, Gavin Hunt.

As I announced at the AGM, I intend to have the bunker on 18th hole designated “The Captain’s Bunker” for 2012. Any player entering that bunker while playing the 18th hole is requested to place a donation of €2 in the designated box in the clubhouse. Suitable signage will be put in place soon. All money donated will go to the Meath Hospice Charity.
