Members are shocked to hear the sad news of the passing of our Captain, Leonard Flynn. Sadness and disbelief permeate the club and indeed the town since learning that our esteemed Captain has passed away. All were aware of Leonard’s health struggles over recent years but all were equally inspired by his resilience, determination and good-humoured approach to life. Leonard’s leadership, as Captain, ensured that all members had a very full and enjoyable year of golf. His Drive-In, Captain’s Prize Day and his successful Charity Day, just over a month ago, were highlights of the year and created happy memories for all, especially for Leonard, his wife Brid and his family. Leonard was meticulous in ensuring that all major events for Knightsbook Golf Club were inclusive of all members and his family. The Vice Captain, Will Murray, has cancelled Sunday’s competitions and flags around the club will be at half mast as a mark of respect to our Captain Leonard. In a message to members, Will states “It is with a heavy heart that we inform you about the passing of our Golf Club Captain, Leonard Flynn. As Captain of Knightsbrook Golf Club, Leonard exemplified leadership and dedication and fostered a sense of community and camaraderie among all our members. Leonard’s passion for the game and unwavering support for fellow golfers will be greatly missed. Leonard leaves behind cherished memories and an enduring legacy that will inspire many in the future. We extend our heartfelt condolences to Leonard’s wife Brid, sister Lisa, brothers Peter and Sean and all the Flynn and Yore families.
