Knightsbrook Men’s Golf Club AGM took place on Monday night 12th December. The following were elected as Honorary Officers of the club: President: Mr Liam McMenamin, Captain Mr. Seán Ó Díomasaigh, Vice Captain Mr Frank Leonard, Honorary Secretary Mr. Thomas Renehan, Honorary Treasurer Mr. John McEvoy, Honorary Handicap Secretary Mr. Colin McAllister and Mr Jonathan Cusack, ex-officio. Committee: Mr Brian Lawless, Mr Alan Kirwan, Mr Alan Rooney, Mr Seán McGinley, Mr. Gerry Ryan. Outgoing Captain Jonathan Cusack thanked all members for supporting the club and in particular the men’s committee for all its work during the year. He announced that Mr Liam McMenamin would be taking over as President and Trustee to replace Mr Oliver Perkins, who he said had served the club with distinction as Captain and President since 2006. Captain Seán Ó Díomasaigh paid tribute to the captaincy of Jonathan Cusack, particularly during the Solheim Cup. “He did us all proud” he said “and whenever there was a “conflict of interest” between and the PLC and the club, Knightsbrook Golf Club always won out!” Seán pledged himself to continue the development of the club with the new committee and thanked his family and the club for their great support for him and his family. He said he wanted to encourage members to plant a tree on the course during the year to off set our carbon footprint and he intended to have a Captain’s bunker throughout the year to raise funds for a local deserving charity. He encouraged members to go out and enjoy their golf and build up the social side of the club. “Golf is about the social interaction…hitting a ball around a field is a worthless exercise without the social interaction and fun” he concluded.
