Captain’s Prize Day was a wonderful success thanks to the hard work of our Captain, Colin ably assisted by his good wife Jannette. Following the disasterous weather on the qualifying Sunday, members enjoyed bright sunshine and kind weather for the singles competition and the final round of the Captain’s prize on Saturday 29th August. In true Scottish style, the Captain provided generous sustinence for the golfers on the ninth and throughout the course.Colin worked tirelessly all day to ensure that all members and guests were looked after and all were very appreciative as was evidenced by the huge turnout at the Captain’s dinner hosted by Captain Colin and Lady Captain Elva.Thank you to both captains for a wonderful evening, full of suprises of a Scottish nature…the “Captain in the Kilt” and the beef taster ceremony. The only thing missing on the night was a fish taster! In his speech to the members Colin clearly showed his passion for Knightsbrook Golf Club, good friends, golf and good honest fun….he even spoke in Irish! Both captains thanked their committees for their work, the Cusack family, the hotel staff and the Golf course and golf shop staff for all their work to ensure that the club runs smoothly all year round. Vice Captain, Thomas Renehan was master of ceremonies for the night. Winner of the Captain’s Prize 2015 was Ken Butterfield and winner of the Lady Captain’s prize to the men was Noel Dempsey. Stella Mc Loughlin won the Lady Captain’s Prize 2015 which was played some weeks previously and Cormac Geraghty who won the Junior competition. (See pictures above)
