Dear Members,

Next weekend sees the commencement of our Winter League Series. In recent years, the Winter League has been a team event running up to Christmas while the Spring League was a singles event which ran from January until early March.

This year we have combined both events to form our Winter League Series which will run from next weekend October 28th, until Sunday, February 25th, 2018. Please see below for the Competitions rules.

• The Winter League Series will run for 14 weeks from October 28th to February 25th. There will be 6 rounds before Christmas October 28th – December 3rd, with the final 8 rounds running from January 6th to February 25th.

• The competition will be a singles Stableford competition with the best 8 Stableford scores combined, over the 14 weekends counting towards your overall score. Please note that if you happen to play on both Saturday and Sunday, only your best score will count as your weekend score.

• In the case of either Saturday or Sunday being cancelled due to weather conditions, the Winter League Series will be cancelled for that weekend.

• A separate 13 hole singles Stableford competition will run as normal on both Saturday and Sunday in conjunction with the Winter League Series. Positions for Prizes are as per competition rules 17.

• Entry fee for the Winter League Series is €10 and must be paid before you tee off in week 1.

• The competition will be run over 13 holes each weekend, with each player playing off 13/18’s of their handicap.

• The conditions of play will be – placing on the fairway (within 6 inches), not nearer the hole – lift, clean and drop in the rough (within one club length) not nearer the hole. Bunkers shall be in play unless otherwise directed by the Golf-shop. A notice with the rules on playing in bunkers (especially where there may be casual water) will be on display in the clubhouse.

• Prizes will be awarded to the top 5 overall finishers.

Handicap cuts will be made on each day of the competition. These cuts will apply to scores in both Winter League Series and Weekend competitions. Please see below details of cuts:

• Cat 1 (0-9) – 0.1 per point in excess of 26pts
• Cat 2 (10-18) – 0.2 per point in excess of 26pts
• Cat 3 (19-28) – 0.3 per point in excess of 26pts.
