The local rules advised by the GUI have been posted. The wording for the local rule for Hole 13 has been temporarily put up on the course for your comments and suggestions before a permanent sign is erected.
Local Rules
Effective 1st June 2016
1. Out of Bounds (Rule 27 – 1):
(a) Beyond the nearest inside point, at ground level, of all Walls, Fences, White Lines or White Stakes bounding the course.
(b) The Clubhouse, Clubhouse Enclosure, Car Parks, Hotel Grounds and surrounding Roads.
2. Water Hazard – (Rule 26):
(a) 13th Hole.
(i) When playing the 13th hole, a player hitting the ball from the Teeing Ground in the direction of the Water Hazard, to the right of the Fairway, is strongly advised to play a Provisional Ball, in the interest of Pace of Play.
(ii) If it is Known or Virtually Certain that the ball has come to rest in the Water Hazard, the player may proceed under the available options of the Water Hazard Rule (Rule 26).
Note: Just because a ball travels in the direction of the Water Hazard does not mean it is Known or Virtually Certain that the ball is in the Water Hazard.
In the absence of Knowledge or Virtual Certainty that the original ball is in the Water Hazard and the ball cannot be found, the original ball is deemed Lost and the player MUST proceed with the Provisional Ball.
(b) Drop Zones.
(i) If a ball is found in or it is Known or Virtually Certain that a ball that has not been found is lost in the Water Hazard behind the 3rd Green, the player may, under penalty of one stroke, proceed as follows:
A. Proceed under the Water Hazard Rule, (Rule 26), or
B. As an additional option, drop a ball in the Dropping Zone located at the back of the green.
(ii) When playing the 18th Hole, a player whose ball enters the Water Hazard, after first landing on the bank to the left of the 18th Green, may, under penalty of one stroke, proceed as follows:
A. Proceed under the Water Hazard Rule (Rule 26), or
B. As an additional option, drop a ball in the Dropping Zone located at the back of the green.
(c) Water Hazards ——– Yellow Stakes.
(d) Lateral Water Hazards ——– Red Stakes.
3. Movable Obstructions – Relief (Rule 24-1):
(a) Stones in Bunkers.
(b) Upright Fairway Distance Markers.
4. Immovable Obstructions – Relief (Rule 24-2):
(a) Relief may be taken without penalty, in accordance with Rule 24-2, from the following:
(i) Staked Trees, (ii) Fixed Sprinkler Heads, (iii) Hydrant Covers, (iv) Fairway Distance Marker Discs, (v) All Secured Course Furniture, (vi) Course Toilets, (vii) Signs, (viii) all sections of Roads, not in Water Hazards, (ix) all sections of Bridges, not in Water Hazards, (x) All sections of Paths, not in Water Hazards, (xi) Life Buoy Stands.
Life Buoy Stands – These are Immovable Objects. However, there is no relief, without penalty, from these Stands if a player’s ball lies in, or touches the margin of a Water Hazard.
5. Ground Under Repair (GUR) – Rule 25-1:
(a) GUR —— identified by Blue Stakes.
(b) If a player’s ball lies in or touches the margins of GUR, relief MUST be taken, without penalty, in accordance with Rule 25-1b.
(c) If GUR interferes with a player’s Stance or the Area of his Intended Swing, relief MUST be taken, without penalty, in accordance with Rule 25-1b.
(d) Relief in all such cases is Mandatory and MUST be taken by the player.
9th and 18th Holes:
(a) The Blue Staked Area to the right of the 9th and 18th Holes are marked as GUR and if there is interference from this GUR, in accordance with Rule 25-1a, relief MUST be taken, without penalty, by dropping a ball in the designated Drop Zone for each hole.
(b) Relief in both cases is Mandatory and MUST be taken by the player.
6. Distance Measuring Devices:
For all play at this course, a player may obtain distance information by use of a Distance Measuring Device. If, during a stipulated round, a player uses a Distance Measuring Device to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect his play (e.g. elevation changes, wind speed, etc.), the player is in breach of Rule 14-3.
7. Gorse:
(a) All Gorse Outcrops are an integral part of the course and there is no relief without penalty from the Gorse or the Gorse Protective Membrane.
8. Additional and Changes to Local Rules:
(a) See Notice Board for any Additional Local Rules.
(b) Players are advised, there can be Changes to Local Rules from time to time, and they should regularly check the Notice Board.
Penalty for Breach of Local Rule:
Matchplay – Loss of Hole. Strokeplay – 2 Strokes.
Please avoid Slow Play Your position on the course is directly behind the Group in front, not in front of the Group behind. If your Group fails to keep its place on the course, it MUST allow the Group following to play through.
Players are requested to: Rake Bunkers – Replace Divots – Repair Ball Marks on the Green.
